Vila Casas Foundation - Can Mario Museum
Can Mario is the Contemporary Sculpture Museum of the Vila Casa Foundation in Palafrugell, opened in 2004. The museum includes approximately 220 sculptures crafted by different artists who were born or reside in Catalonia, 33 of which are located in the outdoor Can Mario Garden. The works range from the 1960s to present.
Can Mario was a cork factory from the start of the 20th century which formed part of the architecture of the cork company Miquel & Vincke. Today it is a space for artistic appreciation located in Can Mario square, where you can also visit the Modernist watertank and the Cork Museum.
During the visit
GUIDED VISITS
The Can Mario Museum offers the possibility to take guided visits of the facility. They are scheduled during the weekends in Catalan and Castilian (book in advance), but it is also possible to schedule a visit for groups of at least 25 people (minimum 7 days advance notice).
The museum also offers family workshops on certain Saturdays.
