Josep Pla Foundation
Located on carrer Nou de Palafrugell, the childhood home of Josep Pla is the headquarters of the Foundation dedicated to the Empordanese writer, which includes the permanent exhibition "Josep Pla (1897-1981)", a journey through his life and work. The institution also features two temporary exhibition halls, Pla’s personal library and a documentation centre.
The Foundation is dedicated to promoting, motivating and encouraging reading and studies of Josep Pla’s literary and journalistic work by organizing and showcasing a variety of activities: producing exhibitions, presentations and literary activities, workshops and study seminars, literary routes and educational courses and workshops, among others.
During the visit
The permanent exhibition Josep Pla (1897-1981) explains the writer’s personal and professional journey within the historical context of the 20th century. The visit starts with the multimedia presentation by Leopold Pomés, named Josep Pla, viatger (1991), i després es ressegueix de forma cronològica la trajectòria biogràfica i literària de l’escriptor. Els diferents àmbits compten amb els fulls de sala corresponents on es pot trobar tota la informació (textos explicatius, cronologia i citacions) en anglès, espanyol i francès. Amb l’entrada individual es pot visitar també les exposicions temporals, dedicades a l’aprofundiment en aspectes concrets de l’obra de Josep Pla.
GUIDED VISITS AND LITERARY ROUTES
Throughout the year, you can schedule guided visits for individuals and groups with advance booking. The Josep Pla Foundation offers visitors the possibility to go on a variety of literary routes (Josep Pla Route in Palafrugell, in Calella, in Tamariu, in Cap Roig, in Pals, in Ullastret...) to learn about the places and landscapes that inspired the writer through his literature.
